Doomsday

(Acrylic on skateboard, 8” deck, passion project, 2019)

Doomsday is one of those paintings that was fully realized in a painting. Eyeball people and geometric voids filled my high school sketchbooks, and I was beginning my obsession with the color orange at the time. I learned a lot of good lessons in this painting; avoid cheap, transparent paints, use reference pictures for anatomy, and set a timeline/goal to finish the project. I love this piece because it reminds me of my existential phase, where all I thought about was what was behind the veil of my perceived reality. I still ponder these thoughts but nowadays I find it easier to enjoy my human lifetime without too much deliberation.
